To the Editor:
Re “Who Could End Up Next in Trump’s Gulag?,” by Erwin Chemerinsky and Laurence H. Tribe (Opinion guest essay, April 10):
In this essay, Justice Sonia Sotomayor is quoted as writing in a dissent: “The implications of the government’s position” are “that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal.”
I am submitting this drawing as a cartoon to the editor, which imagines a time when many of us ordinary U.S. citizens (and cartoonists) may find ourselves in danger from our own government.
