Sunday’s Indian Premier League match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians has been moved from Dharamshala to Ahmedabad, India’s cricket board (BCCI) said on Thursday, amid fears of an escalation in the conflict with Pakistan.
India struck multiple locations in Pakistan this week after a deadly April 22 attack targeting Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir that New Delhi blames on its Muslim neighbour.
Pakistan, which denies any link to the Kashmir violence, said on Thursday it shot down 25 drones from India overnight.
Dharamshala is one of the major airports in the region which had flights impacted, with airlines cancelling flights.
“The venue change has been necessitated due to logistical challenges,” the BCCI said in a statement.
“The match will begin at 3:30 PM IST as per the original schedule.”
Dharamshala is hosting a match later on Thursday between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, which is set to go ahead.
