Lim’s third wife, Koo Sui-ying, and daughter Pearl Ling Meng-chu, also known as Pearl Lam, indicated they might take further action to ascertain the “true value” of his assets after the High Court ruled in their favour in a lengthy legal battle over the estate earlier this month.
The pair broke their silence on Tuesday with a statement praising the court’s judgment as a “vindication” of their 19-year effort to protect the integrity of Lim’s final wishes.
But they also raised “significant unresolved issues” regarding the size of the Lai Sun Group founder’s estate.
Lawyers for Lim’s estate had assessed the value to be about HK$2.9 billion.
“The defendants hope that all related matters will be resolved to an equitable conclusion and that the continuity and vitality of Lai Sun and other companies founded by Lim Por-yen will be assured,” the statement from the mother and daughter said.
